Storyline Online

This online library allows parents to filter to a specific grade in the search box to get a list of suggested books. The children's books are narrated by celebrated actors along with great illustration.

Internet Archive

This online digital library offers free access to web pages, books and texts, audio recordings, videos, images, and software programs.

Open Culture

This cool site offers 1,300 free online courses, 1,150 free movies, 700 free audiobooks, 800 free eBooks, 200 free textbooks, 300 free language lessons, 150 free business courses, free K-12th education, and a daily email.

Project Gutenburg

This online library offer free 60,000 eBooks, ePub, for download and reading online.

Audible Stories

Free stories are available for kids of all ages. This site offers book recommendations by age and have a great selection of award-winning books.

Time For Kids

This information site includes a free digital library for all grades for the duration of the school year. Articles are organized by grade level for easy navigation. All you have to do is fill out a subscription form to free content.

Bookflix

This is an online literacy resource that provides video storybook with related nonfiction eBooks from Scholastic to build a child’s love of reading.

Newsela

This site is giving free access to articles for students to write essays on for the entire 2019/2020 school year.

If you register for a FREE library card, you have online access to digital media:


Cloud Library – Readers may borrow eBooks at home or on the go with digital devices.

Freegal Music – A music service that doesn’t need special software to run. Unlimited streaming music.
Hoopla – hundreds of thousands of music, eAudiobooks, eBooks, movies, TV episodes, and graphic novels.
OverDrive- Includes 40,000 eBooks, 16,000 eAudiobooks, and 250 video titles.
RB Digital – Thousands of exclusive recorded books, audiobooks, ad magazines into one service.


Directions to register for a FREE Library Card:


1. Call (505) 768 – 5170 for over the phone assistance Monday – Friday between 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
2. Ask to “open a new patron account” or a “temporary library card” over the phone.
Parents are asked to use their information to set up their child’s library account.
(Parents: be sure to have your driver’s license information, correct address, and contact information ready.)
3. The Librarian will input your information in the system through the phone and tell you the temporary library card is good until May 1st. (the date may be subject to change depending on the current situation of social distancing.)
4. You will receive an account made and you will be given a pin # to access the digital media on the AbqLibrary website.

Live Streams

The Metropolitan Opera

Have your kids enjoy culture and entertainment while social distancing through encore presentations in cinemas and nightly opera streams beginning at 7:30 pm for 23 hours.

San Diego Zoo

The Safari Park provides live cams on elephants, koalas, apes, and more!

National Geographic

Through Explorer Classroom, Children are able to watch live broadcasts from National Geographic Explorers across all seven continents each weekday at 2 p.m. Students can also register to be on one of the six on-camera spots to ask Explorers questions via video chat.

The Smithsonian Learning Lab

Offers free online Distance learning events taking place on a day to day basis. The events are led by an expert in their field and sponsored by the Smithsonian’s various museums. The schedule is updated daily and offered on the bottom of the main website.

The Who Was? Show

The educational Netflix and YouTube show presents change makers throughout history. The content rating is TV-Y7 and there are currently 69 episodes.

CrashCourse

A free YouTube channel that offers videos in World History, Biology, Chemistry, Literature, Psychology, Film, Sociology, Physics, and more.

Explora

Visit any of their social media platforms to access fun videos and accompanied instructional content for science at-home activities.

Peep and the Big Wide World

Students can go on daily adventures with Peep and his friends while learning specific concepts while travelling. On the site, parents can find preschool curriculum and science games. 5 Seasons and recommended for preschoolers and headstart.

APS and New Mexico PBS

Beginning April 6th, APS @ Home will begin broadcasting from 8 am to 12 pm on weekdays on Channel 5.1 for kids in K-5th grade. If you miss an episode, visit their youtube channel to view it.

9 a.m.: English Language Development Bilingual
10 a.m.: Grades 2-3 English
