Parent Online Resources for Distance Learning

This unforeseen pandemic affected our communities in ways we weren’t prepared for, but we are doing the best we can to continue our student’s education undisrupted. At To’Hajiilee Community School, our families’ safety is the outmost important thing and our transition to distance learning allows for educational content with minimal contact. We understand the current struggle our TCS parents are going through at this time and we want to provide additional resources to help educate your child.

STARR Common Wealth

To best assist educators poised to provide the foundation our children need, we would like to offer our online course Trauma-Informed Resilient Schools free of charge to anyone interested in the underlying traumatic roots of behavior, as well as the key components necessary to allow students to flourish.

PBS for Parents

This site provides weekday newsletters full of activities and tips to help children learn at home

Starfall Parent Teacher Center

Free customizable ELA and Math practice sheets, Word & Picture, books & posters, puzzles, and more.

DC Resources

The Communications and Engagement Office and the Office of Teaching and Learning collaborated to create grade specific Parent Curriculum Guides from Kindergarten to Eighth Grade. These guides give you the tools you need to support your child’s learning at home. In these booklets, you’ll find strategies based on the DCPS curriculum to help your child meet his or her learning goals.

Time for Kids

This site is generous to offer their 2020 teaching materials for parents to teach their K – 6th grade children.

Scholastic Teachables

This site offers worksheets, lesson plans, learning games in various subjects offered for Pre-K to 8th grade.

American Chemical Society

Offers educational resources for Elementary to Graduate level in Chemistry.

Wide Open School

The site brings you quality, free learning activities that is organized by subject and grades. Answer a couple questions to find the perfect lessons for you to teach your child at home (PreK to 12th grade).

Bright by Text

A free texting service for parents providing tips, videos and local event information that supports parents in everyday moments.

Digital History 

This site uses new technologies to enhance teaching in history eras, topics, and resources. Students can do history topics, learn about other cultures, read Supreme Court cases, and engage through active learning programs (Mid school – High school).

Public Education Department Provided Resources

This link will take you to a list of different curriculum and instruction that help families with distant learning. Offers free download for curriculum, downloadable packets, textbooks and instruction.

Khan Academy

Free resources for parent that include but aren’t limited to webinars, guides, curriculum for Pre-K to 12th and more.

Together Counts

This curriculum outline is manageable and made to fit parents of the household for young children (headstart). Sample lessons, outlines, and support resources are available.

Sesame Street.org

This site is filled with content you can use all day long to spark playful learning, offer children comfort, and receive a daily newsletter.

Sesame Street in Communities

This amazing website for both providers and parents of young children 0-5. Offering fun printable activities, videos, games and information for both parents and providers to support their children’s social emotional development and learning.


Gives access to free K-12th curriculum and free activities and videos.


24/7 customized information for parents with children from birth to age 5. This system is available for free for 30 days for New Mexico families. Includes resources on health, education, child development and more.


This site is offering a limit of $200 worth of free classes per family and after the credit is used, families are charged regular price as low as $5 a class. Live online classes for ages 3-18 years old and free sign up.
